The incredible life story of one of the 20th century’s most important designers, who knew everyone from Hemingway to Picasso.

Few designers have had Sottsass’s ability to work for both industry and for the gallery. His work for Olivetti in particular set a path that Apple followed 25 years later. “What should a computer look like?” Sottsass asked himself in 1959, “Not like a washing machine”.

“Sudjic first met Sottsass at the launch of Memphis in 1981, arguably one of the pivotal days in the colorful life of the Italian designer, and Sudjic's writing is informed by this personal connection" ― Metropolis
